[For English Yuri lovers] How to visit Yamibo.com and vote in Saimoe Yuri 2007(updated on Sep 30th)

For people who know what yamibo is, or have voted in Saimoe Yuri 2006, too many explanations will be unnecessary. A simple reason to have a BLOG entry here is for the convenience of English users to check the process and ask questions about yamibo.com and Saimoe Yuri 2007 contest. Of course, if you have no interest in Saimoe Yuri contest whatsoever, you may still benefit from yamibo's vast resources with some help in browsing this website. No matter what, I'll try to satisfy your basic curiosities.

For people who don't know what yamibo is... hem, yamibo is a Chinese ACG (anime, comic and games) forum that focuses on shoujoai/yuri mainly. It also has some related boards like seiyuu board, art boards and fanfiction boards.

Saimoe Yuri contest is an annual contest (so far just the 2nd year) among various anime yuri characters. It is held from October to December at one sub-forum of Yamibo. For historical references, go to the English thread in Yamibo (2006) and Shoujoai thread (2006). For this year, Yamibo thread is here, and shoujoai thread is here.

Here are some guides to register in the forum. (Some of the boards cannot be visited unless you register, if you'd ask why.) However, Yamibo has closed its registration for new comers since Sep 28th, and it will last probably for a month... So this part of FAQ is just for later use _______OTL

1. How to register in yamibo

When you first enter http://www.yamibo.com/ , you'll see such a screen:

You are a guest now (1), who can't vote or see the result of the match.
Click on 2 to register (3 to log in if you've already registered AND logged out, or else you'll be automatically logged in for a month).

Then this screen will come out:

Wait for 10 seconds and click on 4. (Now you agree to be good :p)

In the next screen you are asked to fill in your information.
Only the first 4 items are required:

Account name (5)
Password (6)
Repeat Password (7)
and email address (8)
If you don't want to bother with optional choices (10), you can jump right down to the bottom of the page

and click submit (26) to finish your registration.

Or else if you want to have a little fun and let us know more about you, you can fill in your advanced information (9):

You can use [img] code or use an icon from yamibo collection(21).
22: Browse, 23, 24 are width and height.

Now that you've logged in, you should see your account name (27)

And you can log out if you want (28) <---but why? don't bother with it :)
You can send or receive messages (29) as well as see your points (30) or title (31) on top of your screen.

Since this year the voting method will be slightly different than that in the last year, I will write up a new how-to and update it in this entry later.

2.How to add pictures to your avatar and signature

First off, choose to edit your personal information. See the first picture. Find the only place you have a drop-down boxes in the top toolbar in yamibo. Click on the 2nd option (see the first picture)

Scroll down all the way to the bottom in the next page. Store your picture at an online album first, for example photobucket or flickr. For your icon, don't make it more than 150x150 pixels in size; 640x480 for the signature. Put the http address of your icon in the corresponding slot, and you can write in the signature your sentence to say, add a picture or url with Discuz! code. For example {img}your image url{/img} for your image, {url=your url of BLOG or something else}description of it{/url} and change all above {}--> [].

The detailed rules of voting, please check the yamibo thread or the shoujoai thread for details.

A brief on the Saimoe Yuri 2007 so far: there have been 30 anime and 198 characters total in the competition for the title of Yuri Queen this year, compared to 21 anime and 144 characters last year. How fierce would the battles be... please look forward to it. :)))
