Zumanity of Cirque du Soleil (18+) , 12/26/09 at NewYork NewYork hotel, Las Vegas

Risqué it was. I was stunned even from the very beginning at their bold and suggestive jokes-- was that really the Cirque du Soleil that I knew of? But again, it was me who wanted to watch this sensual side of Cirque du Soleil. For what it was, I have to say, it was a great show. Recommended for couples, no matter what kind of couples XD --- they have something for you. On the other hand, if you are a very conservative person, you quite possibly will be offended, be it the blatant jokes, drag queen, transvestite, lesbian, gay, S&M, adultery or orgie (if you don't understand more than one of these words, this show may not be for you...) Not saying they don't have some things for straight people though, quite the opposite :) And if you want to be picked, sit in the front rows... oh me? I sat on the 3rd floor :p

This is the 3rd show I see of Cirque Du Soleil's, after the "O" and the world tour "Corteo". This show returns to traditional circus arts but combines creativity in the ways to present them.


Where I was seated was the 3rd row from the front on the side, but for the 360 degree (almost) view that wasn't a problem. Actually due to that, I had a really close view to some of the artists. The most impressive ones were definitely the contortionists and Wheel of Death; and the juggler was really amazing, the best of his kind I've ever seen. This young show compared to the other ones I've seen is not perfect--there was one missed catch in Wheel of Death and a few not-so-stable landings in Seesaw around the end. However, throughout the show the crew has been engaging, enticing and entertaining. The three female contortionists were breath-takingly inhuman (in a positive way)--I've seen contortion shows but they were usually slow and careful, but this one's fast-paced, rhythmical and beyond imagination. The costumes also showed nicely every part of their bodies. The Wheel of Death was daring, passionate and creative, I felt my heart was going to jump out every round they flew in the air--- without safety ropes. It is also unpredictable on how the 2nd person gets on the wheel, and when you are still astonished by their in-wheel performances, one of them goes out on top of a wheel! The dynamics and physics of this idea are also intriguing. The juggler could put 9 loops in the air in the same time; his speed throws and control of timing and strength were so skillful that I felt he'll continue forever and nothing would ever fall out of his reach.

The trapeze and the double wire acts totally made me think of Kaleido Star. The trapeze artist was a blonde wearing red,--so reminding of Layla's golden phoenix. The high wire were done by 4 guys who, even had a sword fight on the wire! Again, reminding me of Layla and Sora (oi, enough of you Otaku XDDD)...


I would recommend it to anyone who can go to Santa Monica beach to watch this show. It would be a dazzling experience, just like it was for me.

现实生活中的Kaleido Stage。。。

无疑就是Cirque du Soleil。自从3年前我第一次到Las Vegas，看到Bellagio 的O时，我就执著的这样认为。

那之前我已经看了Kaleido Star的动画，对梦幻大技和天使的超绝技非常向往，曾经说过："如果真有这样的舞台，这样的表演，花多少钱我也要去！" 现实生活中真有蕾拉.汉密尔顿和苗木野空吗？那鹤立鸡群，无比耀眼的卡莱多之星？我的答案是，大概没有； 但是在O的舞台上，每个人都是蕾拉，尤利，每个人都是完美的，令人震惊的表演者，声、光、背景、人物和表现力，全都超出我的想象力。原来在这个世界上，真的有这样的演出！真的会留下这样刻骨铭心的感动！！


纽约时报曾经有过这样的评论："O is forever." 真正有一个表演可以永远吗？ 未必。但是这种力与美的结合，雅与俗的交汇，这种无比感动的感觉，或许真的就是永远。 3年零5个月了，我仍然清楚记得O的许许多多的细节，哪怕没有留下任何纪录。我情不自禁的觉得，这世界上最好的跳水、吊环、体操家们，不在奥林匹克的赛场上，而在这里； 就如这世界上最会用枪的人，不会是站着不动拿到金牌的气枪选手一样。说不定，只是说不定啊，Kaleido Star的灵感是从Cirque du Soleil来的呢。从那时起我就成了Cirque du Soleil的大fan，希望着有一天可以看遍他们所有的表演。


话虽如此，搬到西海岸之后却还一直没能去造访， 反而是Corteo(wiki)在06年世界巡回演出时，在波士顿看过。 这场演出我拿到的是VIP第1排的票，360度的圆形剧场，给予观众不同的享受。同样是高质量、高享受的show， Corteo感觉比O还是差着一筹，难怪O的价钱在所有的Cirque du Soleil的表演中是最贵的，而且不止从来没有降价的票，想要好位置还得提前2-3个月来订。 这里提醒一下，想要看O的秀请直接去Bellagio的官网购买，其他的网上卖的都是2-3倍价的黄牛票^ ^a

上周末去Las Vegas的时候，觉得比起3年多前又多了好多Cirque du Soleil show，大赌场里简直人手一个orz。Alegría · Corteo · Dralion · KÀ · KOOZÅ · La Nouba · Love · Mystère · O · Quidam · Saltimbanco · Varekai · Wintuk · Zumanity， 我还很有得看，不是吗？





ps: 这次我去Vegas看的是Mama Mia!， 将要在09年1月结束的著名音乐剧，Meryl Streep刚刚拍成电影的那个。相当不错的剧本和歌曲，（更难得的是真主角是中年妇女=她自己。。。）难怪她会动将其搬上大银幕的心思。 Mandala Bay剧场里的演出本身相当一流，娱乐性强，人物印象深刻，让人好奇电影比起来会怎样。改天去找来看看吧。
